Opłatek Celebration!

Experience the warmth and togetherness of a cherished Polish tradition at the Sikorski Veterans’ Centre this January. OpÅ‚atek is a time-honored custom celebrated in Polish homes and communities before Christmas and the New Year. At its heart, it is about connection—family, friends, and neighbours come together to share a thin, unleavened wafer known as opÅ‚atek, breaking it with one another while exchanging heartfelt wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity in the year to come. This simple yet deeply meaningful act represents forgiveness, unity, and the renewal of bonds, reminding us of the importance of pausing to reflect, appreciate, and care for those around us.

Our gathering is more than a ceremony; it is an opportunity to embrace the spirit of community, to reconnect with loved ones, and to celebrate the richness of Polish culture. Attendees can look forward to enjoying a traditional shared meal, filled with the comforting flavours of home, and participating in kolędowanie, the joyful singing of Polish Christmas carols, which fills the hall with music, laughter, and festive cheer. This welcoming event is designed for guests of all ages, creating a warm, family-friendly atmosphere where traditions are honoured and memories are made.
